Full Professor in Petrology, Department of Earth Sciences, University of Torino, Italy. Lecturer in Petrography (Introductory Level, BSc in Natural Sciences) and Metamorphic Petrology (Advanced Level, MSc in Applied Earth Sciences), University of Torino, Italy.

 

Scientific interests

Geology, petrology, and tectono-metamorphic evolution of geologic units involved in continental collision processes. High temperature and high to ultra-high pressure metamorphism. Field mapping in the Italian Alps, Chinese Dabie Shan, Himalaya and Karakorum.

• Member of: Società Italiana di Mineralogia e Petrologia (SIMP); Gruppo Nazionale di Petrografia (GNP); Interdepartmental Centre "G. Scansetti" for the study of asbestos (Torino); CNR (Istitute of Geosciences and Georesources).

• Principal investigator of: PRIN projects; University of Torino project “Scambi Culturali”; cooperation agreement between the University of Torino and the University of Science and Technology of China (Hefei); EV-K2-CNR Committee SHARE Project “Metamorphic CO2 degassing from the active Himalayan orogen and its influence on the long-term global climate changes”.

• Member of the W&T8 (Sciences of the Earth and Space) Advisory Board of WFO (Research Foundation – Flanders) (2009-2012).

• Member of the MIUR Advisory Board for the rating of PRIN and VQR.

• 40 scientific expeditions in the Himalayan countries and China (since 1993).

• Visiting scientist at the University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei; fieldwork in Dabie Shan and Sulu orogens, east-central China (12 times since 1995).
